Broederlijk Delen, because the South has plans.
Through Broederlijk Delen, you can support groups of people in the South to realise their own plans and projects. in their struggle against poverty and injustice.

Through our international programmes, we support initiatives developed in the South itself. To us, support means more than just helping individual partner organisations. Together, our partner organisations are stronger than individually. We organise and promote exchanges between and with our partner organisations. We do not start up our own projects, but listen to and cooperate with local organisations which we call partner organisations. Since it is the partner organisations who know the local situation best, we only support initiatives that are not only adapted to the local needs, but are also supported locally. That is the best guarantee for sustainable change. Worldwide, Broederlijk Delen supports some 250 partner organisations in 20 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Unfortunately, projects involving people in the South are often opposed or complicated by structures that are shot through with political injustice and are often out of reach of our partners on the ground. That is why Broederlijk Delen invests in political work. We try to convince policymakers to take decisions that work against or correct injustice. Read our vision on political work.

Broederlijk Delen is also active in sensibilisation campaigns: we try to make people in Flanders aware of the plans that people in the South have to tackle their problems. We also offer educational materials for teaching. The annual Lent campaign is the culmination of our work each year. In the 40 days leading up to Easter, we call for solidarity. We show people how our partners in the South are the driving force behind the processes of sustainable change that result from the local population’s choices. Our partners are heavily involved in our campaign. They are, for instance, present as witnesses here in Flanders during the campaign. With the support of the Flemish public and through our lobbying activities in both national and international networks, we reinforce our partners’ political actions. And thanks to our fundraising, we are able to help bring their plans to fruition.
